Jordi FREIXA
Baritone and Conductor
 

Born in Irun, he took his musical studies at the Conservatorio de San Sebastian, Bayonne and Picola Scala de Milan, and at the Voice school of Orfeon Donostiarra.

His music knowledge includes musical theory, harmonization, contre point, composition, Voice, musicology (thesis on popular music in Europe and in the Basque country), conduction, history of music as well as basic instrumentalism.


He was choirmaster assistant for two prestigious choirs in the Basque country and was member of several others. With one of them he won the International Award of Arezzo (Italy) in traditional music.

He had the occasion to record his works either as soloist choirmaster. He has worked with musicians such as Lombard, Lavilla, Muller, Yepes, Benini, Wagner, Misers, Janocks, Aragües, etc.

Jordi Freixa occurred as soloist in Spain, in France and in Germany. He has created at Bordeaux the choirs ETXEKOAK and EGUZKI LORE (men's and women's choirs respectively).

Jordi Freixa has been part of the choir of the National Opera of Bordeaux for about fifteen years and currently continues collaborating with them occasionally.
